Gmail’s Insert Photo button from today will allow you to add photos you uploaded to Google with Auto Backup from your mobile device. Auto Backup is an Android and iOS tool in Google+ that makes an automatic backup of your photos, saving them to Google+ Photos.

If you use Auto Backup, you will now see all your photos backed up to Google+ when you click Insert Photos. This means you can really quickly add any photos you want to an email. The new Insert Photo button also lets you share albums, if you have created them in Google+ Photos.

If the idea of Auto Backup worries you, it needn’t. You can choose to only backup when connected to WiFi, to save your network data use. In terms of privacy, you can choose to share photos uploaded by Auto Backup, but they are not shared automatically!

This new feature is being rolled out today, and not everyone will get it at the same time: if it’s not there now, just wait.
